Profile

One of the two signature skyscrapers of the Melbourne CBD's east end, the other being 101 Collins. Upon completion in 1991, it became the tallest building in the city, almost immediately surpassing 101 Collins which had itself surpassed the Rialto that same year. It remained the tallest until 2006, when it was surpassed by the Eureka Tower, and as of 2020, it is the 4th tallest in the city. Designed by Hassell in association with Daryl Jackson, the building's postmodernist design is evocative of the Empire State Building in New York City (as is that of 101 Collins).
